Yesterday was Day 1 of NaNoWriMo and I vowed to be a complete shut in. Okay, I vowed to be a complete shut in after I went to the library sale. I know myself well to get any potential distractions out of the way so I hit the sale early and was home before noon. Then, as tempting as it was, I just said No! to Michael's invite to join him on his afternoon outing to see Day Of The Wolves, a 70's flick playing at The Alamo as a benefit for the Austin Facial Hair Club. They're raising money to send members to Alaska so they can compete in the World Beard And Moustache Championship. It was a tempting invitation. I could only imagine the variety of beards and moustaches running amok. But I stood my ground and stayed home.
After hours of confinement I had all of one sentence. One sentence. Okay, so I've got that going for me. Today my goal was Sentence #2. We planned to start at 12 and stop at 4, Michael would paint and I would write. I made the mistake of going into the laundry room, what for I don't know since I never did laundry and don't have anything to wear next week but that is beside the point. What I was saying was that I went in to the laundry room and noticed just how all of the lint had managed to accumulate atop the washing machine. It was like a little snow scene in miniature. Like Mt. Fuji. And not only was it on the washing machine but my god it was on top of the dryer too! Well hell if I didn't have my work cut out for me. This accumulation of dust had to be dealt with. Can you believe that it only took about 5 minutes to be rid of it?
Then I was good. I put my blinders on so I could ...put a few things up on Ebay. Just a few things. Four things. Now it is 6:57 and I have dusted my washer and dryer, gone grocery shopping, blogged and am about to eat. But by god, I will have another sentence by midnight!
